try to apply for a position you got fired from 10 yeasr ago. I can't get hired. discrimination?

i got fired in this job 10 years ago due to attendance and poor work ethics. I was young back then, But things are different now cause I've change and matured. Now I tried applying again to this same job but the supervisor who terminated me is still there. I desevre at least a second chance

Judy
No it isn't discrimination - they don't have to take you back. Look for a job somewhere else.

I really don't think it's discrimination. When he fired you, if he said something like, "I'm sorry but you're to young for this job" Or "I can't have someone from you culture working here." and gave a lame excuse as to why then it's discrimination. And if it was just as i have stated then you should complain to the board.

so apply.....................
not getting hired in today's employment climate has nothing to do with discrimination and more to do with a larger pool of applicants and extremely cautious and selective employers.

you give yourself far to much credit as a "bad" employee if you think the supervisor remembers you from ten years ago. most ex-employee files from then have been destroyed by now and unless you really made an "impression" the likely hood of you being remembered are slim.

how many other employees have passed through the doors since you left?

good luck with the job search and don't read so much into the past, it is the past!
