Find answers to your legal question.

will i still get paid for the hours i worked if i walk out of my job?

I am still on my 6 months probationary period at my new job, but I hate it and hate the manager, 3 other people have left due to him. The other day I broke down and told him I quit but for some reason he doesnt seem to have understood this as he said see you tomorrow, and I was phoned today for not turning up (I didn't answer). Anyway, will I still get paid for the hours I've worked as it looks as though I have just walked out without saying anything. Or should I go in next oppurtunity I have and tell them I have quit. I really don't want to face him at all. So if I will still get paid after walking out I will be happy.

If this place has a Human Resources department you need to arrange an exit interview and report the problem. They should also be able to arrange for your last check as part of this process. Act now and let them know what is going on - you may even be able to return back to work for the company in a better situation if you choose. Being on probation should not mean your are fair game for any abuse. Keep in mind, your HR department's idea of abuse might not be the same as yours; if they agree with your assessment, though, you will probably have better options.

You should be paid for what you have worked. Regardless if you hated the job, if you needed them for reference, you should have given a formal quitting notice. Regardless, what's done is done and you should be paid. If you were full time and had vacation pay, you should be paid the vacation paid you did not use.

By law, you have to be paid any hours you work.
