It just depends on what you buy, i guess. |

We spend $80 a week for a family of four. It's actually not enough, in my opinion. |

I live in SC and there are three of us at home and then I have 3-5 on the weekends we spend as a family on groceries anywhere between 100-150 a week |

Is your husband a ding dong? $80 a week on groceries is great. He should be so happy you are a thrifty shopper. He is being totally unreasonable. |

i can spend $50 a week on the essentials (no junk, healthy snacks). but it's me, him and a two year old and my 5 month old is eating now. look at the stuff and seperate into meals and servings before you buy |

My and my partner have 4 children between the two of us. Even when we've had them full time (for instance, last summer) - I think we spent $80- $90 per week on groceries. $400/month for 6 of us. |

It's nothing these days--doesn't he watch the news?? $100 a week is about the minimum
That said, it also depends on what you buy. Packaged food is 4xs as much as natural food you make from scratch. |

wow.... i spend more than 100 every week on groceries.... and delivery food, go out and eat more than 4 times........
man.... i need ask you how to keep it under 100...
but again, i think you should get a job and trust daycare....
its always better to have a job your own |

I have a daughter and a girl living with me and we average in Northern NJ about 200 -225.00 per week in food and incidentals that we need. I would love someone forever if they could figure out how to make us live and eat well on a 80.00 grocery bill |

It isn't too much for food. I spend atleast 100 a week for 5. Not buying fruit snacks, yogo's, chips and junk like that helps with the cost. Also, you can save money by buying store brand, rather than brand name. But seriously, 80 dollars is reasonable. |

we spend about 125 a week on food, food alone, that does not include shampoo, toilet paper, soap, cleaning supplies and other stuff...
there are 5 of us...
we probably could spend less, if we shop at places like aldi's or save alot...
we also eat out about once a month, maybe twice...

i don't know, we re a family of 5 we spend more every day on groceries. we don't eat junk food at all (never ever) but we eat lots of fruits and vegetables and cos i can't cook i buy only fillet meat - easier to cook. so to me 80 for a week sounds like nothing at all. |

Get a job that allows your husband to watch your son and spend that money on groceries. My husband is the same way. As far as daycare, my daughter is a wonderful child and an honor student. Guess what, she went to daycare. You just have to check them out and make unexpected stops to check on your child.. |

I spend about $700/month on groceries for myself, boyfriend and 4 year old daughter and that doesn't include beer and wine but it does include medication, diapers and toiletries.
It depends on where you live and how much food costs but $80/wk doesn't sound unreasonable to me. |

That grocery bill sounds low to me! I spent that amount each week for my 13 yr old daughter and myself! We eat very healthy, organic, vegetarian as much as possible, no junk. I think your husband would be in for a much bigger shock to find out what daycare costs. You're probably saving money by staying home. |

That's not a lot of money. He's just venting his anxiety about money.
A lot of people could spend that much eating out once or twice.
Make sure he's shopping for the sale items, or suggest using coupons.
Figure out the cost for one meal and share it with him. It appears he can't see the forest for the trees. |

I feed a family of 5 every week and make 7 dinners, 2 lunches, and 2 breakfasts per week (I work Monday thru Friday so I dont make breaskfast or lunches then). I spend about $180 a week on food and not counting toiletries, napkins, diapers etc. That is insane. Have you seen how much food has gone up in price since last year? By the way, I only make $9 an hour and dont complain when it comes to my familys well being. |
