Do you think that its true that women marry men that are like there fathers?

ihavedrive	You look for a man with similar characteristic but no one will compare or be like my father. He is one of a kind!!!!

I see you	I think women marry men and compare the traits that they see in them to those they admired in their father. After all, hopefully a woman can feel secure when they have that seeming measure of "continuity" in their lives.

baseballmommy	my husband is nothing like my Daddy....however my husband tells me that I sometimes remind him of his Grandmother....with her likes, attitude etc...then he reminds me of how much he loved and honor'd his Grandmother. I never got to meet her, but I think its great how he talks so highly of her.and me too! smiles

?	Often that is the case just as men sometimes marry women who remind them in some way of their mothers. Quite often, women even marry the men their father likes. :-)

All4Christ	good question. my husband is NOTHING like my dad. my sister did marry someone JUST like my dad. she is the older one. i think the older kids tend to do that. but the younger ones are more rebellious and do the opposite. but not that i purposely married someone the opposite of my dad. it just happened i guess.

GreenBeansRevenge	both of my long term relationships were with girls who's fathers reminded me of myself. didn't marry though although at least one wanted to and it could have happened i guess. I hate to think i'd go for someone like my mom. but maybe they were both insecure, quiet, intellectual types so maybe just better looking.

beachgirl90	If that is the case then that explains why I dont know who is the guy I am suppose to marry cuz I never had my real dad in my life. If that is the case then that explains why I recently said I do to a total untrustworthy guy like my step dad.

Nicole	Yes, because my 20 year old friend is getting married to a 38 year old man and her daddy is 42.....she just missed the years with her daddy and is trying to make it up with this dude.

Nikki B	I think sometimes...i didn't realize it, but my husband is just like my dad in SOME ways. They like the same things...they even looked similar at the same age....But they are also veeeeeeeery different in most other ways....i dont think its something women consciously look for.

Me	It can be true but was not for me. I love my dad with all my heart as well as my husband but they are not that much alike... and some times they are very different

JD3	Yes they do! I did. He was a little better than my father but they were still cut from the same cloth. (divorced now)

cosaxteacher	If so, I don't know myself. I know my father-in-law, and he and I do not have much in common. My wife isn't like my mother. They are both compassionate, but my wife is very much different from my mom.
