I don't know why it's such a big deal either. No one has the right to say which consenting adults should or should not get married. |

It's just a big issue because so many people are so apssionate about the Bible and religion. I also don't believe in the Bible and until I see God, I'm not convinced about him either...he'll understand and not hold it against me right?? lol.
My main issue with the marriage thing is that it prevents many gay couples from getting health insurance OR having rights at the hospital when one or the other is sick and that is NOT FAIR. Don't worry...eventually it WILL be legal and all of the people that hoot and hollar about it will just be FURIOUS..while open minded folks like youa nd me will be smiling from ear to ear. |

You're right...People who are gay should have just as many rights as the rest of us. They're not hurting anyone and society has made this a big deal. It's not our business. |

Odd. Isn't it? The same people happily get married following divorce, eat "unclean" animals, work on Saturday, and would likely refuse to marry their late brother's wife or allow their husband to do so. I guess it's all applies only to the The Other Guy. |

ok listen marriage in general is a religious process as well as a governmental one. Gay "marriage" shouldn't be allowed or really wanted bc gay people can not be truly religious or at least in the Christian church they cannot. Therefore they came up with civil unions and also one of which that I forget the exact title for it, but it gives a gay couple all the same tax write offs and governmental statuses as a normal married couple would have. This means they are legally bonded as two people. Marriage... is religious. It's just a stigma people have with the word marriage that is usually misinterpreted. I'm not religious at all and I'm not gay but I was to get "married" for the legal stance so there you go |

This is a tough one for me...
Because I am a Christian Libertarian. Many of my Christian friends oppose my viewpoint on this one, but here it goes.
I support the rights of all individuals (as long as they aren't hurting or controlling anyone else against their will) gays included.
Legislating based on morality seems to be a very dangerous road to go down. If you read the Constitution, it strictly prohibits such, but those in control and voting (mainly Christians) have seen a way to "reach out" (I guess they might call it that) and "save" other people from horrible lifestyles, where... The reaching out should be on a personal level, talking with them, getting to know them, and if you disagree with them, try to use reason to change their mind. DON'T try to control them and use the government and the law as an excuse.
I honestly think that in the long run, it's going to bite the Christians in the butt.
While, voting for gay marriage almost sees to morally difficult for me, I'm DEFINATELY not going to vote, or rally against it.
I guess you could look at supporting gay marriage by voting as voting for the freedom of indivuduals whose rights have been taken away in the first place.
It's tough though. I've got a lot of thinking to do on this one. After all, it's what I'm basing my presidential vote on (Barr or Baldwin) Not that my guy's going to stand a chance anyways... My vote will only serve the purpose of putting me into the numbers as another Liberty minded individual, maybe it will encourage other Libertarians and Constitutionalists :-) |

There are a lot of religious fanatics out there that find it awful. That is your reason. Though I do not understand how these people can quote every line in the Bible to suit them except "He who casts the first stone." |

People make it a big issue because everyone has their own opinion, therefore there's the argument for and against Gay Marriage. |

To Each His Own. I don't judge either. |

people have such an issue because yes it goes against the bible. also because they have been raised that a man and a woman should be together, get married and have babies. people always find things to get involved in that has nothing to do with their own business. people are also homophobic and just get creeped out, which i think is the weirdest thing ever. i feel pretty disgusted when i see people protesting things like this, my sister is gay and i go off anytime i here someone make a uncalled for comment on the subject. |

You can do what you want and call it what you want but I still don't have to accept it. |

Because everyone should have the same rights as everyone else as long as they aren't doing anything wrong. |

I never understood this myself and asked similar question before. Some people even said that they were against it, because it offended them. I find that just dumb. Regardless of if two people are married or not, they are going to be together (and in public.) Why not allow them to have the benefits of a married couple? Personally, I don't care what people do as long as it doesn't have anything to do with me.
For those religious people: did God not create them to be gay? Ppl who know gay people, know it is NOT a choice (there are gay squirrels for goodness sake.) |

i think this is the dumbest thing on earth. if you love someone, you should be allowed to marry them, so idk why its such a big issue |

Because people put their noses in everyones business. I agree with you, it's their life and if they aren't dragging you into it why do you care? Let them be happy. |

sweetie. God DOES judge- He judges the right way- humans can't.
it's not a big deal to me, as long as marriage stays between a man and a woman. |
