Only if that conformity forces a person to be something he or she is not. If the conformity just causes you to follow a path your natural inclination would lead you to anyway, how does that ruin the mind?
I think you can make an equally valid argument that rebellion just for the sake of rebellion also ruins the mind. You become so caught up the the act and politics of rebellion, you don't even stop to think about what it is you are rebelling against.
If you and the path you are on are well matched, I think the terms conformity and rebellion become meaningless and it doesn't matter how OTHERS percieve you (as either conformist or rebellious). |

Well some comformity helps with survival. For exmple if you go running around with a gun in a crowded mall - that would be non-conformist. You would probably be shot by a police sniper. So in this case nonconformity would be the ruin of mind and body. |
