My ex partner is asking for joint custody of our son.?
|
We currently share responsibility and I would never stop him seeing his son. But his asking for joint custody as he thinks this will help him on the housing list and to get a flat.
Im currently on benefits and in receipt of maintenance. Will this change if I agree to joint custody.
I have no issues with my son father he just wants this to help him on the housing register. He wont be having him for 50% of the time as he works full time. Is purely to help him get a flat.
To ryde-on. I was not on benefits when I had our son we split up last year so I had no option but to go on welfare. So please dont comment on a situation u know nothing about.

first joint custody is not worth thepaper its written on and it wont help him get a flat, the maintenance will stop if he has joint custody, coz he has him half of time even if he doesnt it is stated on papaer. and mate u split up for a reason so why u even bothering to help him, let hm sort his own lifeout and u an ur son sort yours, as long as he has a relationship with his son then thats all that matters
good luck.xxx |

Unless you have a court order stating that you have full legal and residential custody, it is assumed that you have joint custody.
Joint custody refers to who may make legal decisions regarding the child's welfare (where they live, what school they attend, medical issues, etc). You can have joint custody and the child lives with one parent and visits the other.
Joint custody does not affect anything. |

my s/o other pays over $500 a month - my ex pays me nothing - it all depends on salaries and judges and people (I chose not to go for it) - we both share 50/50 joint
if you go for joint - the amount will decrease but not sure how much |

Yeah but you just wanted a kid so you could collect more welfare so what makes you any better ? |

i don't think this will change your situation, but you would have to check with the council.
are u interested in getting a job??
because u should possibly take that into consideration.
good luck with everything |

ok so first of all it will not help him get a flat i waited 2 years for mine and my child lives with me. And yes you wont be entitled to any maintenance money if you agree |

He has a right it is his child too even if you did carry it for 9 months!!
You would have to clear that with the Jobcentre, even then you should put your child first and not hold up on any "personal" issues!! |
