you can but if you ever wanted to get married again in a catholic church you would have to get it annulled. the church will not recognize the divorce since the dont believe in it. i dont know about Christians or any others but i would think some are similar. look it up. check out websites of different religion. |

If you are a catholic like me you have the right to get divorce. However you wont have the right to marry once again in a church. If you want to marry once again it can be a civil wedding but not a church wedding. Threfore you will be legally married as for society but not as for the church view. |

You can get divorced but you have to get something called an annulment (sp). Where you go into your church and tell them why you want to get divorced and they tell the bishops, and they eeither accept, or deny your divorce. if they accept, you can get married in the catholic church again, if they deny, you ares till legally divorced, you just can't get re-married in a catholic church. |

I am a catholic. I was married through the church. And I have gotten divorced, does this mean that I am damned?? I wouldnt think so. I was in a very unhappy and unstable marriage and I think that my ex having an affair for 6 months and hitting me was a way for God to let me know that there was better out there for me. He showed me my path and I strayed from it by marrying the wrong guy. But now my life is on track and better than ever! |

If you are Catholic you are brought up to believe that you marry once in your life and that you will be with that person "until death separates you".
You can get married by the Church, but if you are divorced you have to deal with consequences. In special situations, a person can ask for an annulment but that is a long and tedious process. |

I know TONS of Catholics and Christians that got divorced, including family members, and they are still accepted by the Church. It mostly has to do with what you believe in. Most churches are a bit more understanding since many people today get divorced. |

Nope, you can't. My granny is a catholic and after she got a divorce, she was excommunicated from the church. The priest told her she should have stayed with her ex-husband even though he was sleeping around with another woman and beating on his wife and daughter. |

Im not sure dude but you might be better off putting this in the religion category. I think anyone can get divorced if they want. |

I know you CAN get a divorce, however, you can't remarry by the Catholic church ever again, or at least, until your ex dies.. then you can go for it again!!! |

If you believe in true catholicism then you wouldn't be able to get divorced or take birth control, among many other beliefs... but I am not sure if people follow this anymore... |

You can get divorced, you cannot marry at a catholic church again and will not be welcomed to mass anymore but I doubt the priest waits at the door and checks whether everyone has been married before or not before letting them in. |

you can do whatever you want but it is highly frowned upon, since you are breaking gods covenant. |

You can get divorced but if you want to continue to be a member of the church, you will need to have the marriage annulled. If you do not get the marriage annulled, it would be inappropriate for you to continue in certain practices, such as receiving Communion. |

you can get divorced but you are forbidden from remarrying within the church. |

You can get divorced no matter what your religion. However, if you get divorced and you are catholic, you cannot get married again in the church. The catholic Church will not allow you to remarry in the church unless your marriage ends by the death of your spouse, or an annulment by the Pope. |

You can get divorced, but will not be allowed to marry in the Catholic church again (unless you get it annulled-which is a long process). |

Yes, the catholic church will approve annulments. You just have to get it approved by the clergy. It happens all the time. |

Sure you can get divorced, but why get married if you are already planning divorce? |

Well it's against the church
But you can't get married a second time in the church. 'Cause you'll be forever married with the first one by the church/god etc.

I think for reasons of adultery, not sure. You have to go through certain channels. My friend had to actually write a letter tot he Pope when he divorced so he could remarry in the Catholic church. |
