Should i marry my foreigner boyfriend?

i have been seeing my ukrainian boyfriend for two months now and the only way he can stay in australia is if we get married he never asked me or even suggested this but i want to get married to keep him here he loves it here and he is such a hard worker and a good man and to top it off we are mad about each other but the only thing worrying me is that we have only been together two months? chances are we wont see each other for a long time due to visas if he has to go home to ukraine OPINIONS PLEASE :)

i love cats
i do not think if he is on tourist visa after u get married he will be able to stay - he needs to go back to Ukrain to get his spouse visa. i think it is gonna take not less than 6 months. maybe even longer. but u can go with him on tourist visa. well, if u have money of course

please please please DON'T DO IT.... this is my humble opinion offered to you and from personal experience I did the marry a foreigner thing so he could get back into australia to see his children because when he left the country to travel his re-entry visa expired... so... the paperwork is horrendous... the expense is outrageous... and the end result disaster... heard the expression careful what you think you want you might just get it... well be warned and don't go there and anyway two months is just too too too short... you may well consider yourself "mad about each other" but are you sure it's not just hormones you know that the big "O" causes endorphins to release that make you think oh I am in love no no no... when you travel the world the price you pay is learning to say farewell and know you will never meet again and that is what the ukranian must do say farewell and leave... also and this may sound politically incorrect but as said in my opinion and personal experience mixed marriages are a recipe for disaster in more ways than I could mention here... find a boy from your home town and you will have common ground common history and family near that can help and support etc etc and please please please release the ukranian and remember better to have loved and lost than never to have loved and years from now when you are indeed happily married with babies you will look back and smile at a memory and think wow how happy am I now.

I agree with this above answer. 2 months is WAY 2 soon to even think one minute about marrying anyone. U absolutely do NOT know this man well enough at all. He could have a girl friend or wife in his country, If he has 2 go, so what, u will find some one else when u r ready... u r infatuated right now and he is working it.... do not get tied up into his visa problems, those are his issues. He could be mad about u for ur citizenship, u simply need 2 not discuss his visa status... Personally I would dump him, he is unavailable for a normal getting to know one another before getting serious type relationship. 2 bad u even started.

I would not marry him. The feelings that you feel could be infatuation because he is new. Two months is not long enough to know someone well enough to plan a life long marriage. If you think you love him let him go back to the Ukraine and continue to correspond with him. If you think that you still love him after 2 years then get a marriage visa and flame is still there.

No. Just marrying someone doesn't automatically keep them in the country for one thing. There is a long and expensive process for anyone who wants to become a citizen of another country. I am not sure about australia but I suggest you look into it. I have two friends who actually did this... they got married to keep one in the country then they realized they still have to do a sponsorship process that costs $2,000 and takes like 3 years. so they are commited to eachother for 3 years now after only knowing eachother for a few months and they still haven't even saved enough money to apply so he's still illegal so i doubt they will get approved... it's just a big and messy process that you should only be willing to go through with someone you love. 2 months is not a long time, not long at all. It is not long enough to marry someone. If you want to stay together then let him go home to the ukraine and you can go visit and he will eventually be able to come back. He knew all along he was leaving soon and so did you but getting married would just be irrational and a definately a mistake. it's a big commitment and the whole immigration thing isn't that simple...
