What is a creative way to balance the household chores with my reluctant partner?
|
I seem to end up doing the vast majority of household tasks and would like to find a fun creative way to inspire my partner to take more responsibility. Do you know of any strategies, techniques or tips that would help to do this in a loving way? Or, do you know of any books or websites that might have some great ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers!

Act as if you can't do it yourself and need his help. Men like to feel they are needed and can save their women from heavy duty jobs. |

Chore list , but to make it equal determine a number of points for each task, using how much time and effort and how often a chore needs done. There are going to be tasks that only the man will do, and tasks that only a woman will do. My example is on a ladder cleaning gutters is most likely a man's chore, and dusting is most likely a woman's chore . The discussion will be how many points is each chore worth.
Good luck , This argument will last all the years your married. |

there are my chores and her chores, What i have learned is that once I do a chore about 3 times that becomes"my chore" and I am expected to continue to do that chore. Also after it becomes "my chore" it no longer counts on the chores list.
I cook dinner, she cleans up after dinner, i take out the trash she washes and dries her clothes, i wash mine. she maintains her car, i maintain mine. i vacuum the stairs, i feed the dogs, i feed the cats, she walks the dogs.
it is not equal, and it leads to resentment, but it all works out. |

Let him know that it is a 50/50 situation??? And you don't live there by yourself, so why should you be cleaning by yourself??? |

In my house, we have the "how much can we straighten up in half an hour" game every weekend. He knows when he helps it prevents a lot of sighing on my part. And he gets rewarded greatly, wink wink.
Any other day, he is responsible for cleaning up after dinner. Even if he doesn't do it the way I would do it, it's done. (Keep that in mind, don't correct his method...then he won't do it again.) Appeal to his sense of ego, by saying, "If you could do this for me, it would be soooooo helpful" and ask him to do one thing that you really loathe doing each day...like taking out trash, putting his laundry away, or taking care of the pet food.
Basically, don't nag, appeal to his sense of chivalry, and have him be responsible for a specific thing each day. |

Let us say you have 15 chores, make a list and then divide, 1 for you, 1 for him, 2 for you, one two for him, 3 for you, one two three for him and so on! |
