Why do some men think they need a woman to cook, wash their clothes, and clean the house for them?

I'm a man, and I don't need a woman to do these things for me. I don't see why most men can't do these things their own selves either.

Because women think they need a man to fix, work, and take out the trash for them. |

they are still holding on old ways of how our forefathers used to treat our mothers. and that is not right at all. |

Many men were raised to believe that they need a woman to do that for them. Silly. |

They can. Those are just a few of the perks of having a wife. And some women are happy to do it. |

For the same reason some women think they need a man to support them financially.
Whatever reason that is. |

Well,
why do men think they need to work, bring home money and not do anything for the home other then that????
I think it should be 50-50 |

I have no idea. Women don't understand that "any job worth doing is worth doing well"...they half a$$ cook, wash clother and clean house. Men do it right. |

Too many men believe women are here to serve them! Momma spoiled them amd they think a girl friend or wife will do the same, in a teddy, wearing high heels. |

To each their own. I don't mind cooking, cleaning, changing oil, mowing lawn, raising kids, etc. He's has his strengths and I have mine. |

Most men can do those things and many do. The ones that don't are simply lazy and want a mother instead of a wife. |

I think the reason would be the same as me need someone to cook, clean and do things for me, and I'm a woman. That's I'm so lazyyyyy..... |

I know, I hate that guys think this. I also answered a post earlier about a girl that thought guys should provide financialy for them too and they should stay at home! I dissagree with this too... its the 21st century now! |

This notion is continuing since ages and it is difficult to change the mindset so easily. This requires a complete paradigm shift in the society at large! |

Whoo hoo for you. I can take out my own trash, hang shelves and kill my own poisonous spiders. I can jump my car and change the oil. Good thing, because when my husband deploys, there's no one else to mow the lawn for me. |

girls were brainwashed to not provide for themselves.. use their body to get taken care of and boys were brainwashed to die trying to provide this material fairytale life style and then they would get treated like a king... but God gave us all two good hands to provide for ourselves |

Everyone has their own opinion, on most things.......That sort of thinking is included. Could have something to do with their general opinion of women in general......On the other hand, WHY, is anyone's guess.......♥♥ |

In my opnion, men should be able to do those things on their own. My husband has no problem doing those things. I do those things because I want to, I love cooking and cleaning for my husband. Not because he won't, but because I want to!
Also because some men are lazy slobs |

What are you seeking props for your supposed "respect" of women that you feel the need to point this out?
Trust me, women aren't stupid; they can usually spot idiots out for "their own selves".
EDIT: As a side note, I picked a woman up once with this line: "I clean my own toilet". |

It's not that they "can't" do it, it's a matter of liking to do it. Just like myself, it's not that I "can't" mow the yard and clean the garage, it's that I don't like to. So, he mows the yard and cleans the garage and I do the other stuff. |

i need a man who can protect me, change my car oil, take out the trash and do all the heavy duty work.. in return i will wash his clothes and cook for him as my appreciation that i love him..
some women like to cater to their husbands, most men love a woman who can cook.. all on preference and what works for them
surely a man can survive with a woman and vice versa |

Just because this is how my home works doesn't mean my husband can't do all the domestic chores himself. He works long demanding hours so why the heck shouldn't I be cooking and cleaning -not just for him but me and our kids too-?
He has helped me with all the house stuff at some point or another. It's not like he expects a live-in maid.
Seriously... If you work 12-18 hour shifts wouldn't it be nice to come home to clean clothes and a hot meal? |

My husband can cook circles around me and clean the entire house twice as fast as I can. I'm sure he's not the only one. I can only assume that guys like that stayed home with their parents longer and thus had one or both of them doing things for him that he should've been doing for himself. |

Well, good for you, Tiger but understand that some men just are clueless in the house work dept.
My guy tries, he does but when he cleans up I have to clean up after his cleaning up lol......
he can barely boil water. he kept Papa John's Pizza on speed dial all during his bachelor years.
Hamburger Helper was his only gourmet dish lol....
he can wash clothes...I mean make pink underwear ( red in with whites)....
he works all day..I am retired. So why shouldn't I take care of hearth and home while he is earning the paycheck?
he comes home to a clean house, all his laundry done, and a good tasty home cooked meal (scratch)...and I get to stay at home and be domestic, which I truly enjoy.....
What ever floats your boat, Toots.
BTW, I paint, spackle, can change the 'guts' out of a toilet tank, wall paper, do yard work, garden, crochet, set up a t.v. dvd player, put together furniture, refinish furniture, sew, embroider, needlepoint, Bake (retired baker) etc....and I taught my only son to cook, clean, sew on buttons and repair a seam, iron and wash clothes, right along with his 3 sisters...who also swing paint brushes like their Ma lol... |

Most people can't do those things on their own, not just men. And when they do them they tend to do a bad job of them. I was brought up to do all of those things myself, and I'm a man, too. I'd much rather do them myself, too, because I don't tend to trust others will take much care in doing them should I leave it in their hands. |

It's not about "needing" any of those things. Women don't need a man to fix their car, mow their lawn or repair the cupboards. It's about the tacit arrangement over what you "want" to do. All these things need to be done, and the work has to be divided up. My wife is timid around power tools, so I handle the heavy labour. While I'm doing that, she does the domestic stuff.
My parents are the opposite. My father does all the domestic work, because he has physical limitations which make it difficult for him to do the heavy labour. So my mother does that. |

Historically, women performed these tasks in the home prior to the time women began working at jobs that bring income to the family. Before that, women usually stayed home and performed the vast majority of the domestic tasks while the man was the only breadwinner. There is absolutely no reason these days that I can see that precludes the man from sharing in completing domestic tasks if both the man and the woman are working at jobs that provide family income.
I agree that the Asker should be free to do his own cooking, washing, and house cleaning. If he is married, his wife is very fortunate, don't you think? Just my thoughts. |

WHY ?? Because they weren't lucky enough to be properly taught how to do those things !!
My Mom & Dad had 4 sons and no daughters... Mom shrugged and started training us on household chores as soon as we turned 5.
You set and cleared the table and took your clothes to the hamper at 5... you learned to wash dishes, vacuum, and carry the hamper to the washer at 6... you could handle a knife for slicing and dicing veggies at 7... you started doing the laundry and dusting at 8... you could climb ladders and wash windows when you were 9 !!
Mom also taught us to sew... buttons, rips, hem pants... and then we started building "Frostline" kits - tents, bags, and packs before REI stores were everywhere.
I got even "luckier" and did 15 years in the US Navy... I can mop, wax, and buff a tile floor to hospital quality shine. I can iron clothing to razor sharp creases. I can field-day (clean) a space (room) to a level of cleanliness that will make a USMC Gunny smile (slightly).
My wife was PLEASED as punch when she met me and learned we had near equal house-cleaning skills... thusly we're in our 21 year of happy marriage !! |

I've been out of work for a couple of months so I don't mind taking on that role right now, it's only fair. Normally, when we both work we share the household duties. When he was out of work for a while, he washed the dishes everyday. Household duties shouldn't be designated to a gender, it should be handled in a way that's convenient and fair to everyone. Men who believe a woman should do these things for them probably grew up in a chauvinistic household |
