are wedding pre nups ok. Ihave a bit of property and my wife to be bascly has nothing. what are the rules?

keepthisquite	If your property is realestate, just make sure the title is only in your name. If your new wife has the valid concern that something may happen to you and she needs a place to live you can always leave the home in a will. As Far as $$ goes. Buy some long term cd's. Cd will only be in your name if you do it right and you can choose a safty net number like five years just to be sure. In a divorce unless she can pay a really good lawyer whatever is in your name will be yours. PRENUPTS seed distrust and will destroy any real chance you have.

ever1wolf	Pretty tough actually, in designing an honest/valid answer. I suspect I wouldn't want to approach a prospective, with that piece of paper as the first she might have to sign. I'll assume first that you do LOVE her? Obviously you are digging for gold. I'll also assume, if you listen to the vows, and understand them, no where in them does it mention divorce as a consequence of marriage. I know,,,statistics are way bad in that area. I guess to begin, I wouldn't surprise her with it. She may be shocked enough, initially, just in the suggestion of it, but if you're set on it, then by all means talk it through with her. You may have noticed in societies evolution, and the media coverage thereof, that PRE-NUPS have become faddish,,, especially with celebreties, etc. It could be that a pre-nup is more about ego than money? Padders	I would advise anyone who owns property prior to marriage to get a pre-nup. Otherwise, in the event of a divorce, the person who had nothing to start with could fleece the more affluent one out of anything they could get. If you live in a community property state, it is even more important to have a pre-nup. Everything acquired during the marriage is split between the two. And if earnings are made on property owned by one, the other might try to claim half of those too. Rules? See your attorney asap! Get everything in writing. Don't rely on a verbal agreement. And get yourself a safety deposit box that only you have the key to. And no joint bank accounts! You can really get taken to the cleaners there.

masterflrman	well , when you marry what is yours is hers and what is hers is yours. This is the tridational why of life. Now today rich people that get divorced made up prenumps to protect their assets. But you should ask yourself why you think your marriage might fail and why your thinking that it will. It is suppose to be for life, ad if it is what difference does it make.
