my ex wife is refusing for me to see my daughter.have contacted a lawyer but its going to cost me a lot. help?

thanks for all the replies...am in uk and yes have got a lawyer to file for visitation rights just wondering if i could do it for much less...anyway i will do whatever it takes for me to c ma daughter. thanks to u all even if it bankrupts me cos when she gets old to understand all this she will at least no i was there for her. i use to have her until her mum met a new man.. she told me if i want to see my daughter i shd go to court... however every month i pay maintainace to her and when i called the maintance/child support people they say the cant help me but i still have to pay the maintanice even though i dont get to see her..is my only respnsibilty to pay support for a daughter i never get to see? yes she need that money to look after her but do i also not have rights to my child as a father???

Go on the law society website and find solicitors who do publicly funded work. Depending on your earnings the government may pay for your case

Can you not find a solicitor that can get you legal aid? But to be honest if you do want to see your daughter, I think you know your gonna have to pay. Okay so it might not be cheap but can you really put a price on your daughter. Let a proffessional handle it. Hope this helps.

Talk out and first comfort her by just talking in general and get to the bottom of the issues or go to public family court.

You can always go to legal aid to see if they will help you. I don't know what state your in? If you are paying child support You can say that she broke the court order for visitation. Some lawyers will do pro bono. If all else fails guess you will have to get a lawyer and pay the fee. Good Luck!

if the law doesnt work, then talk to your wife. tell her that youre the father and you have the right to see youre daughter just as much as she does

Take her to court and represent yourself. Sometimes lawyers offer the first consult free, so you could go and gather legal advice and then do it yourself. Sadly this is the reason alot of father just give up. My husbands ex wife, went bankrupt by trying to stop him from seeing the kids, for no other reason bu pure spite.

Exhilarating, isn't it?

It says you're in the UK but the government is set up fairly similar in the U.S. so here's my two cents. By law, your wife cannot keep your children from you. There are attorneys out there that work on a sliding fee scale based on your income and even some that work out payment arrangements with you. Here in the US there are Attorney Generals appointed to each state and I believe the UK has something fairly similar. The attorney general allows you to set appointed visitation days and child support payments. If your ex refuses to let you see your children at that point, you can call the police and have her arrested for breaching the agreement for visitation (not that it should ever get that far.) Please do your research online... when it comes to custody disputes, there are options out there to help parents who cant afford it financially. It wont be laid in your lap so do the work, and fight for your kids.

Isn't the lawyers fee worth being able to see your daughter?
