gunslingerjosey	If your state is a "community property" state, I would expect nothing more than a 50/50 split of the net proceeds of the sale (or net equity in the properties). Of course, you two can agree between yourself to something different. Additionally, you can "fight" for more than 50%, but know that it will probably cost you more and leave you with less than if you just strike an agreement.

kim t	My advice to you is get a lawyer now , and this person will walk you through your rights. I just got a divorce after 31 years, everything will go through the court system and this will take time, unless the two of you agree on all most everything.

gingerdaisy43	Google divorce and your state for a start. It depends ENTIRELY on the state and even the county you are in, how long you have been married, what your two income levels are. This is what I was told in Illinois, married 21 years, I have not worked for 16, Kids are 16 and 12. This would be what I would get until the older one left for college.... I would get 50-60% of all property acquired during the marraige. Things in BOTH your names. 40% of his gross base pay. 28% of his NET bonuses. He would probably have to give me a bit more to help cover my taxes. When kid number one went to college, it would drop to 32%, and when SHE went to college, it would drop to 20% of his base gross pay. We would have to negotiate who paid for college. This is just my illustration, YOU need to talk to a lawyer in your area. You should get your questions answered for $200 or less. Sounds like a lot but your future depends on it! Good luck to you.

rita_hiemy	Why have a nasty divorce knowing that you have children? Why can't you sit down like adults and divide everything down the middle? Then discuss the proper amount of money for child support! The children do not need to see you guys at each others neck about ever little intimate detail because you guys still have to remain social able for the children's sake!!

Maureen S	Get a lawyer straight away. Sounds like he has one. He will tell you where you stand and will also make out papers for the husband to pay child support plus alimony. Don't wait for your husband to tell you what he is going to give you. Get a lawyer and find out what your rights are. From what I have heard, the wife is entitled to 50% of everything, unless you had a house before you met him then that one doesn't count. If you cannot afford a lawyer get legal aid BUT GET A LAWYER NOW BEFORE HE TRIES TO GIVE YOU VERY LITTLE.
