Well, here in America, we keep it at half for a week. |

Hoisted close home at Colours in the morning, immediately lowered to Half Mast afterwards. Kept at Half Mast until the Sunset ceremony in the evening.
Or in other words, from 0800 to whatever time sunset happens in the evening.
This is what happens in the Navy, anyway. Army may be different. |

It generally as a rule of thumb goes at half mast when the death is announced, this is where I've seen various things happen, it goes back to full mast, it then goes back to half when the body is being repatriated, then back to ful then back to half for the funeral. I've also seen it at half mast until the whole thing is over. Your best bet is to look at Queen's Regulations for the Army you will find the definative answer there! |

Perhaps permanently because no sooner do we loose one soldier in either Afghanistan or Iraq than yet another life is claimed.
Let's vacate these 2 countries and then the question need not necessarily arise ! |
