Get a spoon (a brass one is best) and heat it on the gas cooker. When it is hot, use the hot spoon to burn the rough surface of the leather until it is nice and smooth all over the boot. Then get a cup of boiled water from the kettle, a duster and polish. Cover your index finger with the duster and dip it first into the water then into the polish. Get a good even coat of polish all over the boot. Leave for about twenty minutes or so while you try and clean the polish residue off your finger and out from under your fingernail (ha, good luck!!)
Use a stiff boot brush to remove the excess polish and you should have the workings of a shine. Buff to a high gloss finish with another duster as the first one will have polish on it and that can really ruin your hard work!!! |

A lot of spit and polish, but for a short cut paint them with clear nail varnish. |

Get them as good as you can with the above advice then to really shine them up rub over with the inside of a banana skin and buff that up. |

Polish & buff and polish & buff a bit of water or spit and buff again,
Do not wear for heavy work keep for inspection.
OR use gloss spray paint but don't get caught, or Vaseline.. |

No one spits on their boots. Cold water in the lid of the kiwi can and cotton balls is how we did our toes. Takes a good base below. Wax and brush a few times. Use a buff cloth to get the shine started and then the slow process of wax water and cirlces until you are happy. A nice wool pad on a drill motor might work too. I never tried it but works for buffing up plastic headlights on the Mustang. |

go to your sergeant and ask him. Be sure to explain that you want to look good for the unit. If he's any kind of human he'll have tips. Then, after the parade give those boots another good shine and put them in a paper bag and only wear them on parade or for inspection. |

Just polish as you normally do if you achieve perfect results. I was informed by a cobbler a few years ago that the smaller the cicle you apply the polish the shinier the leather becomes. |
