How will history books depict America's invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan?

I was reading some history books on the occupation of India and the mid-east by the British. i can imagine at the time we were saying it was justified and we morally needed to teach Indian and Asian people how to be civilised and live in a democratic society. Presently history paints a bad view of us British, I was wondering will the same happen to the Americans?

Look in the real world. Decode this lyrics " You'll see " "Wonderful world" "Don't know much" "The Final Countdown" "Knock three times" "Mission impossible" "War of the world" "You don't have to be a star" "I will survive" How do we win a mind boggling war? When all the creeps crept out at the same time? With all hell broke loose in time? The greatest war of the century in time? Luke 21.30-36 Luke 9.25,55-56,60 Luke 24.44-45,47-48 Luke 26.32,36-39 What do you think?

All is fair in LOVE and WAR... Americans might give 1000 justifications as a Lion would give justification to kill a deer for his / her daily food. Few Historians would support that tooo..... But the fact are - Motives and Self-Interests, what else :o) <QUOTE> I can imagine at the time we were saying it was justified and we morally needed to teach Indian and Asian people how to be civilised and live in a democratic society. </QUOTE> Do you mean we Indians, were not civilized before British's invasion... That was a good joke... Look at our history and Look at ur history. Heart of a civilisation is what is present today and what did you have the past that you have today !!!! What did you carry from the past that you have today.... No hard feelings... To me, we provide food / place / wealth to whomever we see coming to us.. And you were just one among them. I dont say this... Facts from History says this.

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan will go down as a Hasty decision made by the leaders of the day. India was never a United country but a whole lot of warring kingdoms . They were united under the actions of The British Raj who took over from the East India Company. It was the British that were the Nation builders. No sooner the British left, then many cracks began to appear under Independence .. The British have not been properly recognised for all the good they did.

It depends on who writes the book. If the leftist historian writes it, it will have been a horrendous act of mass murder. If reasonable people were to write it, it will show the evil dictators for who they were and it will further show that the people of these countries finally had a chance to effect their own lives and governments they elected.

It depends what history books you read. Not all modern history books are negative about the war for Iraq or in Afghanistan. Be careful that you aren't being brainwashed - there are a lot of liberal views out there under the title of 'history'.

Iraq will be judged to be a colossal mistake. All the reasons we were told we had to invade turned out not to be true. Afghanistan will be judged to be totally justified. The USA was going after terrorists that had just murdered about 3,000 of it's people, and Afghanistan was providing aid and comfort to them and would not turn the terrorists over to us, or allow us in to get them ourselves.
