When I express these concerns SOME fellow Vets see me as a traitor almost, I'm very patriotic, I just dont agree with this war...has the military programed these people to the point as to believe its wrong to disagree with the government? Do they believe that all people should have the same beliefs? I wish all of our troops nothing but the best and want them all home safe...but I dont think my beliefs make me a "traitor"? What say you?

Thanks for your service.
I am a veteran of the US Army MP Corps, 1970-73, USAREUR and I totally agree with you.
I've also been called a traitor for my opposition the current administration policies, but I think it has more to do with right wing hate radio and tv than anything else.
You are a real patriot, patriots stand up for the constitution and there is no constitutional authority for the invasion and occupation of Iraq. |

you are entitled to your opinions the same as anybody else. I was in Iraq and I truly believe the people are better off without saddam. Now if only they would stop blowing each other up we can come home. |

Your not a traitor. How could having your own opinion make you a traitor? Isn't that what soldiers in the past fought and died for? Our rights. You've earned the right to feel and say what you want. Thank-you for your service. God bless you. |

If you're a hero and courageous for saying it's a wrong war after you served what are the guys who are continuing to serve and believe in what they are doing?
Cowards and/or brainwashed dummies? I think not.
Don't knock a guy because they believe in what they are doing. What they are doing is honorable. They are indeed freeing two countries of tyranny and despotism.
It's a good thing we didn't have mass media or a timid people during the Revolution or we'd still be British subjects or we'd have left the beaches of Normandy and Europe would be speaking German or Russian.
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty." Thomas Jefferson
That all said, thanks for your 12 years of service to the nation. And of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's what makes our country so great. |

Perhaps you should reconsider all the facts and your feeling.I am not saying you are wrong, your reasons are your own.The truth is it needed to be done and a lot more but sadly it will not. |

Disagreement absolutely DOES NOT make you a traitor. (as a fellow veteran, I thank you for your service by the way) For sanity's sake, most servicemen I've known try to stay as far away from politics as possible. There being as many opinions as there are people, it can be fatal to a unit's morale for soldiers to dwell on their reasons for being where they're at. Political debate can be fun when at home; but in combat, it could lead to worry that the person may not be as "with us" as is needed when the bullets start. This may be at the root of the reaction you saw.--- Please know, though, I'm not criticising you at all. Debate and dissent is one of the things that make our country great. How else would one learn of other perspectives? If everyone always agreed, it'd be a narrow, dull existance. |

you ARE a traitor !! Maybe you served 12 honorable years,,,but you now dishonor yourself, your fellow vets, our troops, and our nation.....a Benedict Arnold for sure !!!
Did you foget that WE were attacked many times before we finally had a preisdent who asked CONGRESS to defend our shores BEFORE they could attack it again !! Which they had planned to do..
Clinton was a wussya**...he sent a couple bombers over there ,dropped a couple bombs & flew back..like a nitwit smacking a beehive full of angry bees....only breed to protect the queen bee...mindless drones....trained to kill ....
As for weapons of mass destrcution.... one "bomb" full of a biological diseases is about the size of a tube of chapstick...ggeeeee,not sure if I could hid something that big ???
Remember how many times Saddam had armed troops standing outside a chemical plant & threatened on LIVE T.V.,to shoot an UN inspector who tried to get past them ???
Don't forget how NATO sent our troops into Kuwait to get Saddam & his thugs out...then when we had Saddam on the run & in plain view.....NATO said "let him go"...afterall what he did to his own people wasn't really a war crime....guess that whole village of Kurds deserved to die by the "non exististing weapon" they dropped on them.....raping women, kidnapping & brainwashing 8 year old boys in terror training camps, beheading, pillaging, terrorising their own people, burning mosques, schools full of children, stripping hospitals & clinics of medical supplies....making weapons, thrones, etc. out of gold...killing anyone who said anything against them, even trying to have their own kids killed....
That's only a few of the "sweet, innocent, loving, caring, proper, acc… things the Iraqi government did to their own,as the whole world sat back & watched....
Bin Laden has vowed for over 25 years to rid the whole world of infidels/holy WAR !!! YES.... *W* *A* *R*..that spells "WAR"....
"INFIDELS"...anyone who does not honor allah with doing their part to rid the WHOLE world of non exteremists !!!
FACTS ARE FACTS.... they started it..we let them be....then we & other nations have paid the price with innocent people and our fine honorable, noble troops being in the spot they are in now...
My fiance is an Army Medic.been in Afghanistan now for 14 months....helping the people there & caring for our troops..my nephew is designing & building roads there...many friends there doing only good for the people of both countries....what is not honrable about that ????
I have spoken to many people from Iraq & Afghanistan..they love Bush & the troops for helping them...the insurgents, are just paid thugs, not even from either country !! |

Thank you for your service, I'm a fellow vet also,(US Marines)I don't consider you a traitor, however If you are really concerned and wished the troops the "best" you would support them, See past the "bad" things the press reports and look at all the good things they have accomplished. We all want them home safe, but how about showing them support? You don't agree with the War, fine. but the majority of the Marines and soldiers over there do. Show your respect! for what they are doing! And by the way we have not had a terrorist attack in this country since 9-11. So I guess fighting them over there is working. What say you? |

I just read some of the letters and emails printed in the current New Yorker, June 12th edition.
They express how the war is affecting the US troops. It is very painful. I wanted to cry. The war can not be "won."
You are not a traitor. You, we all, have been lied to by our government. And our children and grandchildren will get to pay for this war, with a lower standard of living.
The war is wrong. Many people agree with you. |

stating your opinion is being patriotic. I do think they sort of brain wash you while in the service, they want you to be detached from the real world of thinking and into a do as you're told mode of thinking. I sure as hell wouldn't run into a hail storm of bullets. But I do sincerely thank you for your service. I support the troops and hopethey return safely but do not support the war in Iraq. Afghan was a different situation. |

No, you are not a traitor. I respect our troops and I am as grateful for their service and sacrifice as any. My son is one of those troops. But I am sickened by this war and ashamed of the self-righteous fool in the white house and all of those who blindly follow him.
Keep speaking out. Is appears that a lot of people are finally beginning to see what many of us have seen all along. |

Good!!!!! You are right!!! It isn't just the military that has been programmed to support Bush and this unjust war.
Thank God for you and your courage to stand up for what is wrong!! |

There's no offense if you don't support Iraq or not. I think people just can't bring themselves to accept other people's opinions when it comes to issues as serious as this. |
