Jobs aboard a navy cruiser and destroyer?

As of now I really want to fly seahawks for the navy and do ASW and things of that nature. but not everyone gets what they want, so i would like to have some back ups. however i have definetly decided that i want to work aboard a cruiser or a destroyer. what are some other jobs on these?

no to mention.. anything found on a small boy is ALSO found on carriers and gators so there are no guarantees you won't get one of them instead. |

I've seen your other questions so I know you're asking about officer jobs. Junior officers on a destroyer are focused on earning their SWO pin and are assigned to jobs that support that. Some of the jobs you might be assigned to during your first tour include Navigator, Communication Officer, Deck Division Officer, Combat Information Center Officer, Sonar Officer, Torpedo Officer, Gunnery Division Officer, Missile Officer, Electrical Officer, Auxiliary Officer (that's an engineering job), Main Propulsion Assistant (only very late in a first tour), Damage Control Assistant, Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and more. Normally you get no choice as to your first billet but you will probably serve in two or three billets in your first tour and you can request/negotiate your later assignments. |
