before then. I don't have access to a pull up bar. Would like to know if doing a couple hundred push ups or 1,000 a week would be an ok minor substitute? And i also have an exercise bike..I live in New York and everywhere is generally iced over with mountains of snow..soo

Prior to when I took the IST with a Marine recruiters, I was a push-up stud. I loved doing them. I could hit around 80-90 in 2 minutes. When the time came to test my pull-ups, I did a *whopping*.... 2 pull-ups.
There's some ways to improvise. If you don't mind being outdoors in the weather, you could find a strong tree branch or a horizontal pole of some kind and practice there. You can try doing deadlifts or barbell rows, but I'm unsure the strength would transfer over well to a pull-up motion.
I'm almost 100% sure the recruiters will have a pull-up bar in their office. You should practice with them.
Worst case scenario, none of the above is an option for you, well just focus on the sit-ups and running, since those are also tested in the IST. |
