10 pm the military clock is very simple. it is based on 24 hours, as in a day. it starts at 0100 for 1 am goes thrugh 0600 for 6am 1200 for noon 1600 for 4 pm 2000 for 8pm 22 for 10 pm and 2400 for midnight, after midnight till 0100 is 2417 for 12:17 am simple isn't it, Europe used it in WWII and for some years after in both there military and civilian life, thats where we got it from. |

it would be 10:00pm military time just keeps going after 12 noon example instead of it circling back to 1 noon it is 1300 2pm is 14 and so on it goes all the way up to 24:00 and starts back at 0:00 hrsit gets rid of the am pm deal and most countries around the world actually use military time instead of am pm time
how to tell military time
Step OneNote that the military clock begins with 0000 hours, sometimes called 2400 hours. When spoken aloud, this is said, "twenty-four hundred hours," which is the equivalent of midnight.
2Step TwoName morning hours as follows: 1 a.m. is 0100 hours, called "oh one hundred hours"; 2 a.m. is 0200, "oh two hundred hours"; and so forth. This pattern continues for the morning hours just as with the standard method of telling time until noon, which is 1200 hours ("twelve hundred hours").
3Step ThreeRemember that military time continues to ascend for the afternoon hours rather than beginning a new 12-hour cycle. Thus, 1 p.m. is now 1300 hours, or "thirteen hundred hours"; 2 p.m. is 1400 hours; and so forth. This pattern continues until midnight, at which point the military clock begins again.
4Step FourDetermine afternoon hours in military time simply by subtracting 1200 from them. For example, 1800 hours is 6 p.m. in standard time: 1800-1200=600; 2200 hours is 10 p.m.: 2200-1200=1000.

Military time is on a 24-hour clock. Regular time is on a 12-hour clock. 0000 or 2400 military is 12:00 midnight. "regular" time.
0000-1200 takes you up to 12:00 noon "regular" time.
1300 is 1:00 PM., 1400 is 2:00 PM, etc.
So, if the military time is less than 1300, just stick a colon in there and you have "regular" time. If it's 1300 or more, subtract 1200 before sticking in the colon... and add PM.
So, 2200 would be 2200-1200=10:00 PM.
The Navy sometimes uses bells and watches to describe the time... and it's even more confusing. |

10:00 PM.
Up to noon, the hours are the actual numbers, but then when it hits 1:00 Pm it is 1300, 2PM is 1400, 3 PM is 1500 etc. |

It means 10 PM. For anything between noon (1200) and midnight (2400 or 0000 hours, depending on you ask,)subtract 12 from the number to arrive at the time. ie 1300 - 12 would be 1pm. 1500 - 12 would be 3pm. |
