You won't learn much from just the findings. There would be much effort by a number of admirals directed towards damage control for their accountability and careers. There are a number of books written that will add more facets and aspects of inquirey such as hurrying her through a radiographic inspection of all her recent welds, repairs, and fittings - only 45% were properly scanned prior to the shake down cruise.

Also Thresher want though a serries of experiments involving
a close proxemity to explosions months earlier - no way of knowing if that may have weakend the sea intake for the reactor cooling water that some think might have been the source of the failure.

Do some reading - I can not rememeber the sources I am referencing.

One other thing, Find a copy of Blind Man's Bluff -
There is information about the loss of the SCORPION.
The Navy has its not-so-good moments too.

Read up on the turret explosion on the IOWA while you are at it.

The Loss of the USS Thresher
Thirty-one years ago, the nuclear submarine USS Thresher failed to surface from a test dive and was lost at sea.

On the morning of April 10, the Thresher proceeded to conduct sea trials about 200 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. At 9:13 a.m., the USS Skylark received a signal indicating that the submarine was experiencing "minor difficulties." Shortly afterward, the Skylark received a series of garbled, undecipherable message fragments from the Thresher. At 9:18 a.m., the Skylark's sonar picked up the sounds of the submarine breaking apart. All hands were lost--129 lives.
