What Is A Terrorist: Civilian, Soldier or Something Else?

jfeucht82	The simple definition is someone who uses the tactic of terror. Then you might ask what is terror. Terror is simply a means of warfare for the economically disadvantaged whom may not have access to as advanced of weapon systems. The intention is to create as much havoc as possible using low-budget and low-tech methods. This usually creates panic for the people for wich the tactic is being waged against (hense the name 'terror'), which itself has strategic advantages. The terrorist is the freedom fighter for an impoverished nation against a superpower.

gross d	You are only a terrorist if you are on the other side. What we call terrorists, they call Freedom fighters. During WWII the nazi's called the French Resistance terrorists. The British regarded our Founding Fathers as terrorists.

They attack defenseless targets to instill panic and fear and break down the will of the population to resist. The rules of warfare were written before terrorism became a big deal and does not adequately cover the subject of any legal standing.

Kamran R	A terrorist is a person, who was an ally of USA (civil or military). USA would have supported him/her for a long time and praised him/her. Then there was a conflict of interest, the same person become the terrorist. Mujahideen/Taliban were very good people in 80's when they were fighting USSR, today they are the worst. When they killed Russians, that was noble task. Same is true with Saddam Hussain, when he was killing Iranians, he was a gem of a person, now he is doomed.

dude.	A terrorist is nothing more than a criminal and should be treated accordingly. It's time to stop glorifying them with words like terrorists and insurgent, they are criminals, thugs,and cowards.

The United Nations wrote these rules (see the link below) in 1998 (three years before the Jihadists terrorists attacked the United States.) crusinthru	Most call Islamo Fascist radicals terrorists because they use terrorism as a means of killing and scaring people into submitting to their form of religion which is pretty much the opposite of what we in the west believe. We believe in individual freedom they believe in control by force. They have no rules when it comes to war. They put no importance on life here like we do. Some who really fall for their garbage readily blow themselves up just to kill others, it doesn't matter who those others are either women children soldiers all infidels to them. They just don't think like us and we can't raionalize any good reason to justify their beliefs or actions. At least I can't. It's a tough situation for sure especially when we have those in our own country who are willing to defend them. In fact some I've seen get so upset at us interagating these people who would kill your wife daughter son as fast as killing a soldier. Yes we are supposed to treat them with respect? Screw that. These same ones yelling about how bad we treat them because we put womens underware on their heads or play loud rock music never say anything when our soldiers are killed in the most inhumane ways I have ever heard of. I heard no outrage on the left last year when two marines were found dead,haveing been beaten to a pulp then their private parts cut off and stuffed in their mouths before being beheaded. If we continue to fight terrorists in a politically correct manner then we cannot win. Wake up America
