There was no Britain in the 1400, The Welsh were known for having the best Archers. Broad Swords and bow and arrows, boiling tar and catapult's were the weapons of the time.

The 1400s were a transition time as gun powder was just starting to have an impact on how wars were fought. If the British had any guns, they were very VERY limited and I would say they were still using the pre-gun powder technology. Before gun powder, bows and arrows were the main long range weapon, with rock throwing devices for major distance attacks. Look up the counter balance trebuchet as the ultimate of those devices. Castles with high relatively thin walls with round corners were the best of design for defense. Troops would use pikes and swords. Mounted knights were still around with a variety of weapons. After gun powder you have the match lock replacing bows and arrows, and cannons replacing the various mechanical rock throwers. Beyonets on the front of the rifles replaced the pikes. The mounted knight quickly left the field as they were slow and the combined firepower of the muskets killed them quickly and easily. The cannon made the high thin walls of the castles an easy target so they went with forts with low thick walls. (Look up star forts and bastions). I would say the "standard" for those years was to fire the muskets once then revert to swords, such as seen in the Musketeer movies. Any armor that was used as still designed to defend against cutting weapons as they had nothing that really could stop a musket ball. But again, I would say the British of the time were at the bottom of move to gun powder and were still using bows and arrows and such.......

hi as some one else said Britain didn't exist then. as for weapons that would depend on your status, the best weapons and armour were worn as ever by the rich. next being the profession soldiers or retainers. last of all would be levied troops some of them even used their farming tools as weapons.

There was no "British" military per se in those days as Britain didn't exist, it consisted of three Kingdoms, Ireland, England and Scotland (Wales was a principality augmented to England by then). Weapons used were swords, maces, pikes Bows, crossbows, and whole range of blunt weapons such as warhammers. Gunpowder came into rudimentary use and States in the continent such as Genoa were famed for their use.
