Why did the US destroy Iraq, how come we are rebuilding what we destroyed?

jinkyvicente	Becase of revenge and you have to rebuild them to help the innocent people there who got affected by the war.

ReILL	Because the companies that are 'rebuilding' Iraq are American owned. Which in turn is bringing back the money spent for this unneccesary war back to the country.

bread_n_buda	Iraq is a kin-based society, which means everything depends on heritage. Bush wanted to make them a Democracy (something that our own country really isn't, we're a Republic -hense the pledge of alledgence line "and to the Republic"). We went in, blew some stuff up, and now he is imposing a democratic system into a place it will never work. Iraq will have a civil war within 20 years of the U.S. pulling out. Maybe sooner than later even. We are rebuilding it because Bush thinks it is a way to show other countries how being a Democracy is a good thing.

planksheer	There was no valid reason for going into Iraq, however our former ally during the 1980s Persian Gulf oil tanker operations , Saddam, forever changed into an advesary when he chose to invade Kuwait. Having changed into a perenial bad-guy, it is easy to rationalize that his being deposed after an invasion and occupation, the US public would seem to think this was somehow justified. Propaganda: I am forever astonished that some people seem to believe Iraq had anything to do with 9/11, however the Bush admin has done such a complete job of linking the two, without actully saying there is facutal evidence that nearly 80% of the American forces in Iraq think this is so. For that matter a good number of Amreicans do to. Greed: This invasion and occupation is about access to Middle Eastern Oil. Sitting on top of the second largest oil reserves in the world, and lightly defended, Iraq was a prime target for our NEOCON PNAC cabal, who sought to get Bush elected as a front man for their hidden agenda. Colonialism: Throughout the 20th Century, and especially since the end of WWII, the US has activly engaged in destabilzing and interfering in the domestic politics of numerous third world nations throughout the world, where it seems to benefit its vested interests. I am not aware to what extent the US will leave a lasting impact as far as rebuilding goes - with the ongoing instabilty and sectarian civil war it is in doubt if anything the US leaves behind will have much permenance.

adm_maaf	who said the us is rebulding iraq,or even what it destroyed in iraq.it hasent yet rebuilt even 1% of what it destroyed.my iraqi frainds are telling me(and i do trust them very much)that electricity,water,petrol and all other fuels,sewage systems,roads ,all other services including security ,were much better befor the us invassion.go to iraq to see how the parks turned down to garbage dumps,how the street gardens were erased.try to find one tube of coocking gas or a letter op keroceene.do you know that the unemployment rate has reached 80%?.do you know how the rebuilding took place,all the hospitals and schools were painted with bright funny cloures,pink,orange,bright yellow,aqua ble,but there is no medicine in the hospital,some schools didnt yet issued text books,the prices have gone three to four folds.some people deserted thair homes because sewage water entered thair bed rooms.crimes are unbelivable,you cant have anything done in any govt office without paying a good bribe.one of my frainds phone had been out of power for the last 14 mounthes because he refuses to pay a bribe.why cant the us tv stations desplay to the world what has been rebuilt.and the last,there is no one to complain to.
