Will a old and maybe incorrect bipolar diagnosis effect air force entrance ?

My daughter was having a tough time in high school and had a nasty breakup with a boyfriend - we were worried about her - wondering if her outbursts at us were more than just teenage angst. She was 15 and a half at the time. So we had her see a therapist - whom we later found out she lied to. The therapist told her to see a phsyciatrist who said she was bypolar - the phsyciatrist was very leading in her questions (at least to me) The phsych said she was bipolar and ocd and prescribed lamictal. She took about four of these tablets. She said they made her feel weird and refused to take them. She then was not being productive in the phsyc sessions. We stopped going after 4. She is now 17 and is interested in joining the air force next year. She is much more pleasant to be around now - although at times we are mean and don;t understand her - which is normal teenager. What can we do about this diagnosis that I think is bunk ? Can the airforce actually find out that this diagnosis when she was 15 and a half from a physc we saw 4 times ?

City Cowgirl	She should go to her GP who will hook her up with a psych evaluation. They should be able to confirm or overturn the previous diagnosis. You can always call the recruiters (if you are Australian) on 13 19 01 and ask them about it. They aren't paid by the number of people they recruit, so you can trust them to give you an honest answer.

armygreens4u	Being it was only a couple years ago, may pose a problem. Take her to a doctor and have them check her out. Only way possible will be for them to clear her of her diagnosed bipolar syndrome and stating she is on no medications and fit for military service. SSG McClintock US Army Recruiter

JLM	Your recruiter should be able to hook her up to see a military psych Dr. Age 4 is kind of young for a solid Bipolar Diagnosis. Tell her Some one in Ohio said thanks for wanting to serve - she's a credit to her country and to you folks, even if they won't let her come in. But I'll bet they will. Kudos

Lacey J	they ask for a medical history so maybe...see another psychiatrist and have them check and see....I am not sure if they don't take people who are bipolar...i know they don't if you epileptic....
