True_Brit	The mightiest military power of all is the USA. But sending in the USA to fight a war is like asking a bull to fix a Ming vase, the whole thing will crumble. The American military may be large and scary, yes, but leave them alone in some forgotten country long enough and they will probably kill each other. All the other countries of the world either have a much more dedicated army that are more willing to get stuck in, or an army so highly trained that they need only half the military might to achieve an objective. Mighty the American military may be, but they are not necessarily the best.

blackberet	In terms of overall might, strategic reach and capability, no one comes close to the US of A as of now. They are truly the only superpower that's left. The Russians are still formidable only because of their large stockpile of nuclear weapons. They have ceased to be a great threat in terms of conventional warfare. China has a huge armed force, the largest in fact... but it is relatively ill equipped when compared to the US. Britain and France are also nuclear powers and so they would be included in the list of powerful armies. The Israelis would make it purely on the basis of the superior intelligence services and sheer military daring and the deterance factor, 'coz the whole world knows that they are nuclear-capable too. Among the developing nations, only India, which possesses one of the largest standing military forces in the world, may be considered as force to reckon with, albeit regionally. So, the US of A it is!

Soap_Dude	Dino474 misspelled the word Chinese. As a nation, USA has no doubt the mightiest military in the world. As an organization, probably NATO. The the level of cooperation in the UN is BS compared to NATO. It is interesting to note that the posession of a large amount of weapons and warring personnels is taken to be a source source of pride in the two previous posts. The army has no doubt a role in peacekeeping, but it is primarily used to wage wars. And believe this, IN WARS, INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE! China has the world's largest army, and North Korea has the second largest army.

Dino4747	The United States has the best trained and best equipped military machine the world has ever seen. We are accused of being imperialistic, but in reality, we would have little trouble conquering the entire planet if we were in fact imperialistic. Our technology enables us to inflict maximum damage to selected military targets with little or no collateral damage.
