There are two recruit depots for men going into the Marine Corps. Parris Island in S. Carolina, and MCRD in San Diego, Ca.
Camp Pendelton, the home of the Ist Marine Division is up the coast a bit from MCRD. This base is where Marines, after boot camp, take advanced infantry training, etc. ITR for Marines graduating from Parris Island is at Camp Gieger, a training base near Camp LeJuine, N.C.
Officer candidates take their training at the Officers Candidate School in Quantico Va, or they can choose the navy or Marine Corps, prior to graduation from the Naval Academy in Annapolis MD. |

and west of the Mississippi River go to camp
Penalton in California. All males east of the Mississippi except the above named states go to
Parris Island. Fort Bragg is an Army post. |
