6.1 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia
An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude occurred Tuesday off Sulawesi Indonesian archipelago, the Institute announced the U.S. Geological (USGS), originally to be reported without risk of damage or tsunami.
The earthquake occurred at 15.52 (9.52, time), at a depth of about 160 kilometers and at a distance of approximately 68 kilometers south of Gorontalo in northern Sulawesi Island.
No tsunami alert was not triggered, said an official from the Indonesian warning system.
Indonesia is located on the "Ring of Fire" Pacific, the place where two plates meet continental, where earthquakes are common.
