An explosion resulted in a large number of deaths shook a shrine in Kabul
A strong explosion occurred today in a sanctuary in the Afghan capital Kabul. From the first information provided by an AFP photographer, it is a suicide attack resulted in a large number of dead.
The attack took place in a shrine in Kabul, where Shia Muslims gathered to commemorate the Day of Ashura (the tenth day of the first month of the Muslim calendar, called Muharram). The day is devoted grandson of the Prophet Muhammad martyrdom.
An AFP photographer, near the holy place where the attack occurred, said that several bodies were scattered in the area.
The first review of the authorities indicates at least 20 people dead and dozens injured.
