Damages of 610 million dollars for Yahoo.
Yahoo! obtain legal redress for $ 610 million from spammers who organized a fake lottery through which they could find personal banking data but also received money from duped users.
The judge who gave sentence but admitted it was unlikely that the accused can pay.
Yahoo! opened in 2008, the lawsuit brought against spammers in Nigeria and Thailand have made a total of 12 million e-mails that spoke of a lottery and were promised prizes Yahoo!. Some users have given personal banking data, others have sent money and criminals, arguing that they are false charges that lottery winners must pay prior to receiving the money.
