European Central Bank President fears that the institution he leads will go to fund the debt problems of countries with the euro area, where the IMF will use the 200 billion to purchase bonds issued by these countries
Draghi IMF points out that additional funds through national Bancila contravenes European Union treaties.



"The situation is complex legally and European Union treaties provide that no one can take that will lead to breach them. I'll give an example: if the central banks of nation states want to lend the International Monetary Fund and the Fund will borrow Indonesia or China, then everything is fine. If the IMF will use that money to buy bonds only for the euro area countries, when such behavior is not compatible with the Treaty, "said President of the ECB.



European countries have committed to study, in March 2012, whether or not the EU's stability mechanism increase. Currently it is 500 billion. Until then, European officials must give consent for the loan of 200 billion International Monetary Fund. The money would come from central banks of EU states.
