ECB revised down strong advance estimates of euro area economy in 2012
European Central Bank has revised down estimates significant growth that would be registered next year the euro area to 0.3% from 1.3% as previously estimated, mainly due to 'strong uncertainty about the debt crisis ', announced on Thursday the ECB President, Mario Draghi, according to AFP.
Instead, the ECB has maintained unchanged its forecasts for this year, the euro area is expected to grow by 1.6%. In addition, the institution gave a first estimate released Thursday for 2013, the euro area is expected to grow by 1.3%.



Regarding inflation, the ECB revised upwards estimates of price increases to 2.7% this year (compared to 2.6% as previously estimated) and 2% in 2012 (the LA1, 7% as previously estimated ). However, the ECB expects inflation in the euro area decreased gradually to reach 1.5% in 2013.



Previously, the European Central Bank (ECB) decided to cut the reference rate a quarter point to a record 1%. This is the second time in the last six weeks when the ECB would reduce the cost of credit in the euro area economy stimulating idea. In the third quarter of this year the euro area grew by only 0.2% anemic.
