Faasen & Partners has stepped up preparations for its alliance with Eversheds next month with the hire of the founding partner of Amsterdam employment law boutique Vogel.
Marc Vogel joined Faasen in Amsterdam today (1 September) along with an employment associate from Loyens & Loeff.
The Dutch firm is set to add another partner on 1 October, with the hire and promotion of NautaDutilh associate Miriam van Ee in Rotterdam, and is also expected to promote two corporate associates to partner status next month.
The hires and promotions will take the number of partners in the firm from nine to 13 since the announcement of the alliance with Eversheds earlier this summer.
Commenting on the hire of Vogel, managing partner Rob Faasen said: "He has a great practice already and is not coming empty-handed. He has good experience and entrepreneurship as well as a good business sense."
Next on the wishlist for the firm is to hire in commercial real estate and corporate.
"Because we are joining Eversheds International it becomes increasingly important to hire in real estate, since this is a strong area for them and an area where they will want to work with us," said Faasen.
Vogel was an associate with Herbert Smith's local ally Stibbe until he left to set up his own firm ten years ago. After his departure from the four-partner boutique, it will dissolve with the remaining partners moving to local Dutch firms.
While Vogel is not bringing any associates in the move, the lion's share of his previous firm's lawyers - partner Judith Schulp and five associates - are set to join Amsterdam firm Lexence.
Faasen & Partners will rebrand as Eversheds Faasen on 1 October.
