For president of the separatist Transnistrian region of eastern Moldova, and announced their intention to compete five candidates.



Central Election Commission registered the region to former President of the Supreme Soviet in Tiraspol, Yevgeny Shevchuk. Four other candidates have filed the necessary documents. They are unrecognizable current leader, Igor Smirnov, the head of the Supreme Soviet, Anatoly Kaminski, president of the Communist Party of the region, and political scientist Andrei Safonov Oleg Horjan, according to news agency from Tiraspol, Olvia Press.

To be registered with the Election Commission, candidates must submit 8,000 signatures, including at least in their favor, which is 2% of the total number of voters.

Analysts in Chisinau and Transnistria considers that the main battle will be waged between Anatoly Smirnov and Kaminski, both being supported by some influential circles in Moscow.

Presidential elections in Transnistria, unrecognized by the international community will take place on 11 December.
