Italy would have preferred a broader agreement on reforming the euro area and regrets "auto-exclusion" Great Britain, said the head of the Italian, Mario Monti, at the end of the summit in Brussels.
"Britain was shutting, and this will result in a loss of influence in European decision making", says Prime Minister of Italy.

"It's hard to say how it will perform the role of Britain in the making, but surely there is a certain isolation, and this will affect the ability to influence decisions," adds Mario Monti.
"Personally, I do not like this situation because it is in the interest of Italy to be able to counterbalance the influence of member countries such as France. But the conditions posed by David Cameron were unacceptable, even for me," Mario Monti concluded.
