Massive protests in Russia against the way elections were conducted
Thousands of people gathered Monday evening in Moscow and St. Petersburg to protest the way they run elections won by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin party. Over 300 demonstrators, among them Alexei impetuous blogger who denounce corruption, were arrested Monday night in Moscow when they tried to organize a protest march, police said.
"It's a historic day for Russia. Putin and his party of thieves shamefully lost," said Vladimir Ryzhkov, the opposition movement Parnas.
Ryzhkov resumed slogan "United Russia - the party of thieves and swindlers", popularized by blogger Alexei impetuous.
Many opposition members displayed placards that read "The elections were a farce."
In turn, the Communist Party held another rally in central Moscow attended by about 1,000 people.
At St. Petersburg, over 200 people gathered for a rally in downtown unauthorized. Police said it a hundred protesters were arrested.

"Over 300 people were arrested, including (Ilia) Iaşin and (Alexei) impetuous, which actively called disobedience to the police," said city police press service, quoted by RIA Novosti news agency.
Nearly 5,000 people gathered in the rain in the city center Monday afternoon to denounce the way elections were conducted according to Russian media. Police turn evoked the 2,000 demonstrators, according to Interfax news agency.
It is a mobilization of opposition by a large rare in this country, where Sunday's legislative elections won by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin party, United Russia, and were marked by numerous allegations of fraud.

United Russia party of Vladimir Putin has seen a reversal in the legislation, which received 49.35 percent of votes, with 15 percentage points less than the 2007 elections (64.3 percent).
