Monti: Italy has no future without outside EU and euro
Italy must avoid at all costs worsening debt crisis and lethargy which reached Greece, says Prime Minister, Mario Monti. In his opinion, no single currency and outside the European Union, Italy has a future.
To prevent such a catastrophic scenario, the country, says Monti, is ready to take all necessary measures. Can not do alone: and European officials must come up with effective solutions.
"If Italy will not be able to leave negative spiral of debt and to regain the confidence of international markets, we have to face dramatic consequences, which could go as far as to question the existence of the single currency and strike in the heart of the European integration process, which began by accident 60 years ago with the Treaties of Rome, "said Prodi.
A disastrous epilogue of the euro area will affect the whole world. For this reason, the European Union single currency must be saved at all costs, says Prime Minister of Italy.
"The euro area and the community created by the European Union give an abyss of poverty and stagnation of incomes, a growing number of small creditors, isolation and, above all, the absence of a future for the country and our younger generations. There is another way, "he said Monti.
Italy is prepared to do whatever is necessary to overcome the crisis. But Europe must do their part, says Monti. Rome Government recently announced a draft budget provides for savings of 20 billion euro budget, pension reform, tax increases and public spending reducer. On the other hand, European officials agreed on a fiscal union in Europe.
