Preliminary agreement for a new EU-Russia visa simplification
"We reached a consensus and a draft agreement on changes relevant to the current agreement to simplify visa after 2006 are being interdepartmental review," said Chizhov.
Russia and the EU have previously reached an agreement on long-term visas for up to five years. The Union issued short-term visas - from several days to a year - although the Schengen visa allows five years.
Under the agreement, the five-year visas are not issued immediately, but after a person has received at least one short-term visa and has proven to be responsible.
