French President Nicolas Sarkozy, said that "the risk of an explosion of Europe was never so great", warning that Europeans have available only a few weeks to take steps out of the crisis.
EU leaders are preparing for a key summit in Brussels, where they will try to reach agreement on an action plan crisis.



The talks are considered crucial for eruro area countries. Germany and France want new EU Treaty, stressing that more stringent fiscal rules will be referred to therein.

EC head Jose Manuel Barroso, at Marseilles, with Sarkozy urged the EU to do everything he can to save the euro. "The whole world follows us. We must do everything we can to save the euro. It is extremely important that we all, the EU, to show that the euro is irreversible," he said.



Barroso participates in the annual congress of the EPP.
