The EU will provide 200 billion IMF
EU leaders will provide 200 billion International Monetary Fund to increase its lending capacity, the plan for solving the crisis facing the euro area, said Thursday before the Brussels summit, diplomatic sources.
The central banks of euro area member states - including those from countries with problems such as Greece, Portugal and Ireland - is to provide 150 billion euros, while the remaining 50 billion will come from the other 10 EU Member States .
Decision would be announced at the end of EU summit, which begins Thursday in Brussels, diplomats said on condition of anonymity quoted by DPA.
The 200 billion, with its own funds to save the time zone, would provide greater financial protection and to strengthen the euro.
